Reading Day June 19th

National Reading Day India 2021 is celebrated across the country today, in the honour of P.N Panicker. This year, it is the 26th edition of National Reading Day

National Reading Day was observed in BMM SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL,POTHENPURAM on 19th June 2021. The following week was considered as the celebration week as the children continued being a part of it relentlessly. The competition mainly went around three sections ie, Quiz, Open Art and Essay Writing. The senior students concentrated in the area of Quiz and Essay Writing while the juniors participated in expressing their world of reading through beautiful sketches and drawings.

Though the students were sitting in their homes, the enthusiasm and interest shown by them are commentable. The topics circled around ‘Reading’. The students expressed their ideas related to it through various ways like picturising their views and thoughts and providing them captions and slogans. The quiz was conducted in the manner of a puzzle. Essays were mostly based on the importance of reading and e- libraries and also many of the students tried to include their experience related to reading. Few of them tried to share the content of certain books they have read and how those books inspired and influenced them.

It seems very difficult to choose the best, so we have taken a few from the list as they are beyond comparison. Among the essays the best ones are of Ann Maria Sunny class 9, Ayana Sara class 8 and Sachu Zachariah of class 9.The magnificence of paintings are seen in the drawings of Jeevan.S class 10, Anjana S Kartha class 9 and Beno Chacko of class 6. The following week flooded with works done by students, especially of lower section. Through making the children aware about the importance of reading through this online programme, the students also got interest in actively participating in the online programmes conducted by the school. At the same time the students are asked to continue with their activities throughout this month as a part of Reading Day Celebrations. To conclude, the students got an insight into Reading through this programme.
